New Release Supports Four Languages, SAP R/3, Enhanced ActiveX Control and Microsoft Office 2000

LightningFAX is a network fax solution that lets users send and receive faxes directly through their computers. Compatible with WindowsÔ NTÔ, IBM® AIXÔ and Sun® SolarisÔ platforms, LightningFAX handles up to 960 lines per server (1440 on AIX), up to three million fax messages at a time, and unlimited users. Faxes can also be sent and received through any e-mail application. LightningFAX supports both fax boards and fax modems.

LightningFAX 6.5 SP1 features enhanced ActiveX Control, including administration capabilities similar to those in the LightningFAX ManagerÔ. The LightningFAX ActiveX module allows remote administration of users, profiles, and server settings.

LightningFAX offers pre-configured telephone number formatting that facilitates LCR routing. These enhancements include optional identification of all country codes, area codes, city codes, and local numbers, which allows the LightningFAX server to route faxes in the most efficient, most cost-effective way possible. This feature puts LightningFAX far ahead of the current “wild card” LCR industry standard. The “wild card” standard, which does not permit such detailed code differentiation, tends to leave faxes open to misrouting or other transmission problems.

Other LightningFAX 6.5 SP1 features: support for SAP R/3, which allows users to send and receive faxes directly through their SAP R/3 (ERP) application; expanded inbound routing capabilities, which now include support for ANI and CSID; a Call Restriction function, which allows the Administrator to restrict a user’s ability to send local, national, or international faxes; Fax to Mail, which is a “thinner” client installation option that lets users print documents directly into their e-mail client by converting the document into a TIFF file, which is a standard fax format.

The LightningFAX API function has been upgraded to support e-mail recipients, allowing users to send broadcast faxes to both fax and e-mail recipients. LightningFAX 6.5 SP1 also supports roaming profiles, which allow users to access their fax messages from any NT workstation on the system. Available in English, French, Italian, and German, LightningFAX 6.5 SP1 supports Natural MicroSystems fax boards, NT Clusters, and Microsoft® Office 2000.
