Unity 2.3 to Include an OEM Version of LightningFAX
Montreal, Quebec, March 21, 2000
Interstar Technologies Inc. (Interstar Technologies), a leading developer of advanced fax solutions, today announced that Active Voice Corporation has selected Interstar Technologies’ fax server software for Unity 2.3, a communications server that provides true unified messaging in a Microsoft Windows NT Server environment. Unity 2.3 includes an OEM version of Interstar Technologies’ LightningFAX software, branded “Active Fax” by Active Voice. LightningFAX is an award-winning enterprise fax solution that gives businesses the power to fax-enable their entire network, allowing users to send and receive faxes through their PC’s and through almost any e-mail application.
Unity, which recently won Computer Telephony magazine's "Unified Messaging Shootout" and received Windows NT magazine's "Best of Show" award for Microsoft Exchange Conference '99, is a Windows NT-based communications solution that delivers voice mail, unified messaging, an automated attendant, and a fax server in a truly unified environment. Unity gives users the power to access and manage all their messages-voice, fax, and e-mail through a touchtone telephone, a desktop PC, or over the Internet. Unity is convergence-ready and works equally well with both traditional and IP-based telephone systems. Unity's true unified architecture minimizes installation, administration, and support costs, which effectively lowers corporate total cost of ownership.
"We are extremely pleased that LightningFAX was chosen as the fax server software for Unity 2.3,” said Michael DiPerno, Interstar Technologies president.
“Active Voice is a leader in the unified messaging market, and their decision to go with LightningFAX is a testimonial to the quality of Interstar’s technology and service,” said Giovanni Tagliamonti, vice-president of business development at Interstar Technologies.
“Active Voice is dedicated to implementing the best possible fax solution for our enterprise customers, and LightningFAX is the perfect complement to Unity," said Ken Myer, Active Voice executive vice-president of sales and marketing.
“Interstar’s LightningFAX offers a rich feature set and integrates easily with Unity. Interstar also offers an excellent engineering and technical support team that stands behind its products.”
LightningFAX, which is an enterprise fax solution in its own right, is available as a robust, stand-alone network fax server that lets users send and receive faxes directly through their computers and through almost any e-mail application. LightningFAX supports server-side Windows NT, Linux, IBM AIX and Sun Solaris, as well as client-side Windows 95/98/NT and Web clients for Linux, AIX, and Solaris. Available in English, French, Italian, German, and Japanese, LightningFAX handles up to 960 lines per server and unlimited users. The server database handles up to three million fax messages at a time. LightningFAX supports Brooktrout, Dialogic/GammaLink and Natural Microsystems fax boards, as well as a variety of standard fax modems. Available modules include the Gateway modules, the ActiveX Toolkit, the API Toolkit, and the SAP R/3 module.
