Interstar Announces Availability of XMediusFAX

Innovative Fax Server Uses VoIP to Save 40% on Telecom

Montreal, QC, July 7, 2003

Interstar Technologies Inc., the pre-eminent developer of enterprise fax solutions for converged Internet Protocol (IP) networks, today announced the availability of XMediusFAX.

XMediusFAX is a fax server that uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to fax-enable an entire communications network. Simply speaking, XMediusFAX allows faxes to be delivered directly to any personal computer (PC) without requiring costly, dedicated fax hardware and leased lines.

XMediusFAX provides a major boost to productivity. Traditional faxing is slow, insecure and often unreliable. With XMediusFAX, faxes, e-mail and other data simply share a common PC 'inbox'. Users get access to multiple forms of communication without leaving their desks. Furthermore, with direct-to-desktop delivery, information security is increased and recurring costs (electricity, paper and toner, etc.) are greatly reduced.

XMediusFAX uses VoIP networks to send long-distance faxes and avoids the public-switched telephone network (PSTN) where charges are based on geography. Instead, faxes are routed to the VoIP endpoint closest to the destination, essentially free-of-charge.

Because faxes are the only widely accepted equivalent to an actual signature, fax is a critical communications medium for banking and financial services, governments, law, health and insurance. In these and many other sectors, the opportunity to substantially increase productivity while reducing costs is a very compelling proposition. XMediusFAX is the most efficient fax server on the market today.

"XMediusFAX is revolutionizing enterprise fax communications," said Michael DiPerno, Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Interstar Technologies. "Interstar is offering a unique value proposition to a very competitive market. Our research indicates that the savings attributed to the implementation of XMediusFAX can equal up to 40% of an organization's total annual telecom costs. We look forward to several key client and partnership announcements in the weeks and months ahead," Mr. DiPerno added.
