Company Extends Lead in IP Fax Market with SIP Support,
G4 Fax Compatibility
Montreal, QC, December 15, 2003
Interstar Technologies Inc., the pre-eminent developer of enterprise fax solutions for converged IP networks, today introduced the fourth version of its award-winning XMediusFAX™ Enterprise Fax Server. XMediusFAX 4.0 adds support for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), Group 4 (G4) fax, and offers simultaneous support for fax boards and T.38 fax-over-IP gateways, among a host of new features and improvements.
"XMediusFAX 4.0 is a landmark release in the industry," said Martin Demers, Interstar's president and CEO. "By supporting SIP, we're extending our technology to encompass the past, the present, and the future of IP telephony, and to work with a broader array of Voice-over-IP systems vendors. Now, more than ever, XMediusFAX provides our customers with immediate productivity gains and a measurable return on their VoIP investments."
Sebastien Boire-Lavigne, Interstar's VP of Research and Development, described the addition of SIP support as a key component of Interstar's technology strategy. "SIP is the most widely-used signaling protocol, and from a development perspective, it's much easier to implement. Now, the time required to support a given SIP gateway is down from weeks to days."
For Boire-Lavigne, SIP support means Interstar's enterprise customers will never have to worry about compatibility. "Most gateways today support both H.323 and SIP, but some newer products are SIP-only. By supporting both protocols, we promise that whatever technology our customers choose, XMediusFAX™ will integrate with it seamlessly, both today and for years to come."
Other New Features and Enhancements
