Telecom service provider MTI generates new subscribers with its expanded Hosted IP Telephony Service (HITS), based on a Cisco, Interstar, and Nortel VoIP backbone
Montreal, Canada, July 5, 2005
Local exchange carrier, Mountain Telecommunications, Inc. (MTI) (www.mtntel.com), has picked Interstar Technologies Inc. (xmediusfax.sagemcom.com), a leading developer of IP telephony technologies, for its multi-tenant T.38 Fax Over IP (FoIP) technology. Leveraging the carrier’s Cisco Systems and Nortel Networks VoIP and unified messaging backbone, MTI has expanded its advanced Hosted IP Telephony Service (HITS) in Arizona to include email, voicemail, and fax services. Internet faxing is based on Interstar’s XMediusFAX™ SP fax server technology for service providers.
MTI’s IP telephony subscriber base in the business, government and education sectors are growing rapidly. The service provider was seeking a carrier-class Fax over IP (FoIP) solution to integrate with its HITS service, which is based on Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Unity and VoIP gateways, over a Nortel DMS-500 network and fiber optic backbone.
“Interstar XMediusFAX SP was the obvious choice. From a technical standpoint, it’s Java API/web provisioning, seamless server integration with Cisco VoIP technologies, and multi-tenant FoIP technology were obvious winning features that compelled us to choose Interstar’s solution.” said Ray Napoletano, VP and COO at Mountain Telecommunications, Inc. “Other leading hosted fax solutions did not meet our criteria for reliability, security and value. This has been proven by our strong revenue growth in the months following deployment and an aggressive marketing campaign.”
Interstar’s XMediusFAX SP is a secure, fault-tolerant and highly-scalable technology designed for 25,000+ users. It is ideal for service providers and large enterprises. Fax transactions are centrally-archived in an SQL database that can be scaled to support millions of inbound and outbound entries.
“Service providers appreciate the fact that XMediusFAX SP can interoperate with either VoIP gateways or with legacy intelligent fax boards to fax-enable a network. Our boardless IP fax server technology entails a very low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), which yields cost savings of thousands to millions of dollars per year. Service providers will quickly realize substantial results in their bottom line,” said Martin Demers, President and CEO of Interstar Technologies Inc. “They will also experience a significant productivity increase with XMediusFAX’s easy and convenient desktop email faxing and fax broadcasting capabilities.”
About XMediusFAX™, fax servers and VoIP networks
XMediusFAX is a T.38 Fax Over IP (FoIP) server application that integrates seamlessly with leading IP telephony technologies from companies such as Cisco, 3Com/AudioCodes, and Alcatel. It maximizes ROI, streamlines workflow, and solves analog fax problems by eliminating POTS lines, specialized hardware, paper, toner and maintenance costs.
Currently, IP fax server solutions on the market require fax boards to operate, and are therefore more expensive and complicated to support and upgrade. The XMediusFAX server differentiates itself from the competition by solely requiring VoIP gateways. Its pioneer, boardless approach only requires a change to the software license scheme for upgrading purposes.
XMediusFAX is an essential component of unified messaging, enabling faxes to share a common inbox, along with email and voicemail.
Users can send and receive faxes directly from:
- Microsoft Outlook,
- or SMTP email client, such as Microsoft Outlook Express, Eudora and Mozilla Thunderbird,or XMediusFAX web client,
- or any T.37-compliant multifunction device (MFD), such as HP, Xerox, Lexmark, and SAGEM.
XMediusFAX is available in Enterprise, Express and Service Provider (EE, X and SP) editions. Various email messaging platforms supported include Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003, Lotus Notes, SAP and SMTP. More »»
